TLDR Tissue expansion can fix scalp issues from hair implants.
A 45-year-old man with androgenetic alopecia developed painful abscesses after receiving monacrylic hair fiber implants. To treat this, surgeons used a U-shaped tissue expander in the occipital and parietal areas of his scalp. After expansion, three flaps were created to repair the chronically infected area.
