TLDR Providing housing and case management reduces hospital visits for chronically ill homeless adults.
The study by Sadowski and colleagues assessed a program providing case management and housing to chronically ill homeless adults, finding it reduced hospitalizations, hospital days, and emergency department visits over 18 months compared to usual care. Mehta and colleagues found that among 5,745 STEMI patients undergoing primary PCI, 5.7% experienced VT/VF, which was linked to higher 90-day mortality. Mahmoodi and colleagues identified microalbuminuria as an independent risk factor for venous thromboembolism in a study of 8,574 adults. Hwang reviewed guidelines for diagnosing and treating acute rhinosinusitis, emphasizing the importance of patient history and appropriate use of antibiotics. Additionally, a new guideline recommended finasteride for asymptomatic men screened for prostate cancer to reduce disease risk, despite no mortality benefit.
