TLDR Bleaching hair increases pore size and changes pore structure.
The study on thermoporometry measurements of human hair using differential scanning calorimetry found that hair porosity results align well with other measurement methods. It revealed that hair fiber pores predominantly have a radius of 4 nm. The bleaching process increases the total pore volume by adding smaller pores, while prolonged bleaching reduces the number of fine pores and results in fewer but larger cavities due to pore-merging.
