TLDR Both Betasalic ointment and 5% minoxidil are effective and safe for treating Alopecia Areata.
The study evaluated the effectiveness of two topical treatments, Betasalic ointment and 5% minoxidil, for patients with Alopecia Areata (AA) over a 3-month period. Patients were recruited in June 2016, and the results were analyzed at the end of September 2016. Both treatments resulted in acceptable hair regrowth in an equal number of patients, and the adverse effects observed were transient. The study concluded that both Betasalic ointment and 5% minoxidil could be considered viable options for treating AA due to their effectiveness and minimal side effects.
