TLDR The guidelines help doctors manage skin problems from certain cancer treatments to improve patients' lives.
The 2016 consensus of the Taiwanese Dermatological Association (TDA) provided comprehensive guidelines for preventing and managing skin toxicities caused by epidermal growth factor receptor tyrosine kinase inhibitors (EGFR-TKIs). The guidelines addressed six major skin toxicities, including acneiform rash, xeroderma, pruritus, paronychia, stomatitis, mucositis, and hair changes, with specific definitions, onset times, grading, care suggestions, and treatment algorithms for each. The recommendations aimed to improve the quality of life for patients undergoing EGFR-TKI treatment by preventing treatment interruptions due to severe skin toxicities. The consensus was supported by 100% of the 15 experts in attendance.
