TLDR A man developed rare complications after nose surgery, stressing the need for better prevention.
This case report described a rare instance of a 27-year-old man developing both Tapia's syndrome and pressure alopecia after septorhinoplasty under general anesthesia. Tapia's syndrome caused unilateral paralysis of the hypoglossal and recurrent laryngeal nerves, leading to hoarseness and tongue deviation, while pressure alopecia resulted in localized hair loss due to prolonged scalp pressure. The patient's symptoms improved significantly within 6 months, with full recovery of nerve function and hair regrowth. The report highlighted the need for proper head positioning, careful airway management, and preventive measures during surgery to avoid such complications.
