TLDR Medication 1 improved hair quality and growth more effectively than medication 2 and the placebo.
A controlled randomized double-blind study was conducted with 72 female patients to evaluate the tolerance and efficacy of two therapeutic agents containing B-group vitamins and L-cystine, compared to a placebo, for treating diffuse effluvium and hair structure damage. The study measured hair quality through hair swelling and hair growth via frontal and parietal anagen rates in trichograms over 4 months. Active medication 1 showed statistically significant superiority over the placebo, while active medication 2 was better than the placebo but less effective than active medication 1. The additional ingredients in active medication 1 contributed to its higher efficacy, which could not be matched by the increased L-cystine in active medication 2. Both active medications were well-tolerated with no adverse effects observed.
