TLDR A new compound was made to detect copper ions effectively.
The study successfully synthesized 2,2-bis(1H-indol-3-yl)acenaphthylene-1(2H)-ones using a magnetic nanocatalyst under sustainable conditions, achieving high purity and yields. The synthesized compound demonstrated photoluminescence properties that were utilized for detecting copper ions in a mixed solvent system of H2O and CH3CN, with an excitation wavelength of 410 nm and a detection limit of 9.5 ∙ 10–6 M.
