TLDR Neogynon effectively prevents pregnancy but may cause side effects like headaches and menstrual changes.
The study assessed the clinical and pathological effects of Neogynon, a new oral contraceptive, on 184 women over 3129 cycles. The pill, containing .25 mg d-norgestrel and .05 mg 17-ethinyl estradiol, was 100% effective in preventing pregnancy. However, 12.5% of participants discontinued use by the 18th cycle due to various reasons. Most women (73.9%) experienced no change in menstrual patterns, though some reported menorrhagia, intermenstrual spotting, or hypomenorrhea. Side effects included headaches, dizziness, mild depression, sexual anorexia, and hair loss in 5 cases. Endometrial biopsies showed a resting pattern in 85% of cases, with irregular responses in others. Despite some women experiencing weight changes and decreased milk production, no gastrointestinal side effects were noted.
