TLDR Neogynon effectively prevents pregnancy but may cause side effects like headaches and menstrual changes.
The study assessed the effects of Neogynon, an oral contraceptive, on 184 women over 3129 cycles. It found the pill to be 100% effective in preventing pregnancy, with no failures reported. However, 12.5% of participants discontinued use before the 18th cycle due to various reasons. Most women (73.9%) experienced no change in menstrual patterns, though some reported menorrhagia, intermenstrual spotting, or hypomenorrhea. Side effects included headaches, dizziness, mild depression, and sexual anorexia, with no gastrointestinal issues. Hair loss was reported in 5 cases. Endometrial biopsies showed that 85% of women had a resting endometrial pattern, while 15% were atrophic, with irregular endometrial responses in most cases. Additionally, 44 women continued lactation, though 9 experienced decreased milk production. Weight changes were noted, with 8 women gaining and 13 losing weight.
