TLDR A woman's liver problems improved after she stopped taking spironolactone.
In 2001, a case was reported of a 50-year-old woman who developed drug-induced hepatitis after starting treatment with spironolactone for androgenetic alopecia. Six weeks into the treatment, she experienced significant itching and abnormal liver function tests, including elevated bilirubin and enzyme levels, although she did not develop icterus or jaundice. Her symptoms and liver function improved after discontinuing spironolactone. This was only the second reported case of hepatitis induced by spironolactone at the time.
