TLDR Spiritual well-being is crucial for improving quality of life in women with breast cancer.
The study assessed the relationship between spiritual well-being (SWB) and quality of life (QoL) in 144 newly diagnosed Palestinian women with breast cancer. It found that overall SWB was moderate, with higher scores in Faith and Meaning, and lower in Peace. SWB positively correlated with body image and sexual functioning, and negatively with systemic therapy side effects, breast symptoms, arm symptoms, and hair loss distress. Peace and Faith were significant predictors of better body image, while Meaning predicted higher sexual functioning and fewer symptoms. The study concludes that SWB is crucial for enhancing QoL, suggesting that interventions should include culturally sensitive spiritual and psychosocial support. Factors such as age, employment, education, chronic illness, and family size significantly influenced SWB, while age, marital status, type of surgery, and social support affected QoL.
