TLDR New method accurately measures finasteride in medicine using NQS.
This document describes the development and validation of a spectrophotometric method for determining the concentration of finasteride in pharmaceutical formulations using 1,2-naphthoquine-4-sulfonate (NQS) as a reagent. The method was found to be accurate, precise, and sensitive, with a limit of detection of 0.03 µg/ml and a limit of quantification of 0.09 µg/ml. The proposed method is simple, reliable, specific, accurate, reproducible, and highly sensitive for the determination of finasteride in commercially available dosage forms. The authors conclude that the proposed method is a simple, rapid, and reliable alternative for the determination of finasteride in pharmaceutical formulations.
