TLDR Niosomes can effectively deliver Superoxide Dismutase to hair follicles, potentially helping prevent hair loss.
In 2019, a study was conducted to enhance the delivery of Superoxide Dismutase (SOD) to hair follicles using niosomes, a type of nanocarrier. The niosomes, with particle sizes between 152-325 nm, were found to increase SOD's ability to penetrate hair follicles by interacting with sebum. The niosomes also protected SOD from degradation, with less than 5% decrease in enzyme content and activity after six months. The study concluded that niosomes could be an effective delivery system for SOD to hair follicles, potentially aiding in the prevention of hair follicle death associated with alopecia areata.

The conversation discusses using peppermint oil for hair loss, with one user applying it undiluted to the scalp and another combining it with finasteride and microneedling. Some believe in its effectiveness despite limited scientific evidence, and also mention rosemary oil as potentially beneficial.
