The study examines the impact of social rejection on mental health in transgender individuals, focusing on trans men (TM), trans women (TW), and cisgender women (CW). It finds that transgender people show increased attention to feedback during social evaluations, while cisgender women show increased attention to the evaluator. Importantly, the duration of gaze during these evaluations is associated with mental health outcomes more than six months later for all groups studied, highlighting the long-term mental health implications of social rejection in these populations.
