TLDR A dog's skin and digestive problems improved after treatment for thyroid cancer.
In 2019, a 12-year-old neutered Siberian Husky was treated for alopecia, pyoderma, and diarrhea, which were believed to be associated with a functional thyroid carcinoma. The dog's symptoms disappeared following thyroidectomy and postoperative thyroid hormone replacement therapy. No recurrence of alopecia, pyoderma, or digestive symptoms was observed within a year after the start of treatment. To the authors' knowledge, this was the first report of a dog with abnormalities in hair, skin, and digestive system accompanying functional thyroid carcinoma.
