TLDR Researchers identified a new hair loss pattern called "sisaipho type," where hair is lost across the scalp except around the edges.
In a review of 1604 cases of alopecia areata at Virgen Macarena University Hospital in Seville, Spain, from 1975 to 1993, researchers identified a new pattern of hair regrowth resembling androgenetic alopecia with male or female patterns. Additionally, they observed 3 cases with a unique presentation where patients lost all scalp hair except around the periphery, which they termed the "sisaipho type," an inverse form of ophiasis. This was named in reference to the "renbök sign," contrasting with the Köbner phenomenon seen in psoriasis.
