TLDR A new hair transplant method creates one appealing scar, uses donor hair better, and speeds up surgery.
In 1996, Dominic A. Brandy, M.D., developed a new single-scar technique for donor harvesting in hair transplantation that resulted in a single, cosmetically appealing scar, even after multiple procedures. This method utilized a multibladed knife for straight-edge incisions, which healed better than the jagged edges from traditional punch grafts. It improved the efficiency of donor hair use and expedited the surgery by eliminating the need for punches and their maintenance. The procedure was initiated at the lowest donor point, with subsequent harvests above this area to utilize donor-dominant scalp. The technique offered benefits such as a more aesthetically pleasing single scar, better donor hair utilization, and a quicker and more efficient surgical process.
