TLDR Low zinc levels are strongly linked to hair loss in adult premenopausal women.
The study, conducted 11 years ago, investigated the relationship between serum zinc levels and Chronic Telogen Effluvium (CTE), a condition causing hair loss, in 100 premenopausal adult females aged 18-49 years. The results were compared with 50 age-matched healthy female controls. The study found a statistically significant reduction in serum zinc levels in patients with CTE compared to the control group (p=0.01), suggesting a strong association between decreased serum zinc levels and CTE in adult menstruating females.
