TLDR Higher IL-19 levels are linked to more severe Alopecia Areata.
The study investigated the role of serum Interleukin-19 (IL-19) in patients with Alopecia Areata (AA) by comparing 30 AA patients to 30 healthy controls. It was found that the AA group had significantly higher serum IL-19 levels compared to the control group. Additionally, higher IL-19 levels were associated with active cases and increased with the severity of the disease. However, no significant associations were found between IL-19 levels and factors such as gender, family history, onset, course, variety, recurrence, and previous treatment in the AA group.
