TLDR Seborrheic keratoses may partly come from hair follicle cells.
The study found that trichostasis spinulosa was present in 54 out of 325 seborrheic keratoses, located within keratinous cysts and between papillomatous surface keratin, as well as in nearby hair follicles. Both conditions were more common in older individuals. The presence of trichostasis spinulosa indicated that seborrheic keratoses might incorporate and partially derive from cells of the infundibular portion of vellus hair follicles.
