TLDR Scalp micropigmentation is a tattooing method that can mimic a full head of hair without surgery and has no healing time.
Scalp micropigmentation (SMP) is presented as a non-surgical alternative to hair transplant surgery that can create the appearance of a full head of shaved hair or camouflage areas of thinning hair. SMP involves using needles and medical-grade pigment to tattoo the scalp, with the needle diameter and pigment customized to closely resemble natural hair. Unlike hair transplants, SMP can be performed on any scalp without the need for a donor site and does not carry a risk of rejection, boasting a 100% success rate. The procedure is typically completed in two non-consecutive sessions to allow for gradual changes in appearance, and unlike surgical hair transplants, SMP requires no downtime for healing.

A 19-year-old with rapid hair loss since 16 is considering a hair transplant but refuses to take finasteride or any 5α-Reductase inhibitors. They are currently using minoxidil, tretinoin, and microneedling with a Derminator 2, and only want hair until age 27.

The user is experiencing increased hair thinning and shedding despite using oral dutasteride, oral minoxidil, topical dutasteride, and ketoconazole shampoo. Many recommend considering a hair transplant or embracing baldness, as current treatments seem ineffective.

community Who here has maintained with finasteride for decades?

      in Finasteride/Dutasteride  133 upvotes 2 years ago
People have been using finasteride for 10 to 20+ years to maintain their hairline, with many reporting success and no significant side effects. Some users have combined finasteride with minoxidil for better results, and a few have switched to dutasteride or added hair transplants when finasteride was less effective.
