Scalp micropigmentation (SMP) is presented as a non-surgical alternative to hair transplant surgery that can create the appearance of a full head of shaved hair or camouflage areas of thinning hair. SMP involves using needles and medical-grade pigment to tattoo the scalp, with the needle diameter and pigment customized to closely resemble natural hair. Unlike hair transplants, SMP can be performed on any scalp without the need for a donor site and does not carry a risk of rejection, boasting a 100% success rate. The procedure is typically completed in two non-consecutive sessions to allow for gradual changes in appearance, and unlike surgical hair transplants, SMP requires no downtime for healing.
