TLDR Croton tiglium application significantly improved hair regrowth in alopecia areata patients.
In a 2018 clinical trial involving 30 patients with Indralupta (Alopecia Areata), the application of Dravanti Beej Lepa (Croton tiglium) was evaluated for safety and efficacy. The trial was a single-arm study where participants applied the treatment twice daily for 28 days, preceded by a skin patch test for safety. The study concluded that the treatment led to significant hair regrowth, with an average improvement of 60% in bald patches. Despite these positive results, the study acknowledged limitations including its small sample size, lack of a control group, basic safety and efficacy assessments, and short duration. The researchers recommended further studies with more participants and extended treatment periods to validate the findings.
