Runx3 is involved in hair shape determination

TLDR Runx3 helps determine hair shape.
The study investigated the role of the transcriptional regulator Runx3 in the development of hair follicles and other skin appendages in mice. Runx3 was found to be predominantly expressed in the dermal compartment of hair follicles during their formation and throughout the hair cycle, as well as in nails and sweat glands. It was also periodically expressed in isolated epidermal cells and melanocytes in the hair bulb. Runx3-deficient mice exhibited abnormalities in their hair coat, specifically in hair type and shape, suggesting that Runx3 plays a crucial role in regulating the formation of hair by influencing dermal to epidermal interactions.
