    The Rotterdam Study, initiated in 1990 in Rotterdam, Netherlands, aimed to investigate cardiovascular, neurological, ophthalmological, and endocrine diseases in a cohort of approximately 15,000 individuals aged 45 and older. By 2008, the study had contributed to around 600 research articles and reports. This article provided an overview of the study's objectives, design, major findings, and updates on its methods.
