Rothmund-Thomson Syndrome With Late Onset and Effective Preventive Control of Non-Melanoma Cancer With Acitretin: Case Report

Larissa Maehara Kondo, Rogério Nabor Kondo
This case report discusses a patient with Rothmund-Thomson syndrome, a rare genetic disorder characterized by symptoms such as poikiloderma, short stature, alopecia, juvenile cataracts, skeletal abnormalities, and premature skin aging. The syndrome typically manifests early in life and increases the risk of non-melanoma skin cancer. In this case, the syndrome presented later than usual, and the patient was treated with acitretin to prevent skin cancer, demonstrating effective preventive control.
