TLDR PRP is a promising treatment for hair loss.
Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is a promising treatment for androgenetic alopecia (AGA) due to its high concentration of growth factors and bioactive molecules that aid in tissue repair and wound healing. PRP stimulates hair growth and regeneration by releasing growth factors such as PDGF, TGF-β, VEGF, and IGF, which promote cell proliferation, activate dormant hair follicles, and induce hair cycle growth. Additionally, PRP reduces inflammation, promotes angiogenesis, and may inhibit 5-alpha reductase activity, contributing to its effectiveness in treating AGA. Understanding these mechanisms allows for the optimization of PRP in hair restoration therapies.
