Role of Platelet-Rich Plasma in the Management of Androgenetic Alopecia

    The article discusses the use of platelet-rich plasma (PRP) as a treatment for androgenetic alopecia (AGA), a common hair loss disorder. PRP is an autologous concentration of human platelets in a small volume of plasma that is obtained from the patient's own blood after processing in an automated centrifuge and injected subcutaneously into the area of alopecia. The article cites studies that have shown PRP to be safe, cheap, and non-allergic, and to have beneficial effects on hair growth by improving the function of hair follicles. The article suggests that PRP may be a useful adjuvant in the management of AGA.
