TLDR The infant's hair loss resolved naturally by 20 months without treatment.
A 3-month-old female infant presented with a ring-shaped alopecia on the scalp, identified as halo scalp ring (HSR), a benign condition often seen in neonates. HSR typically appears as a 1–4 cm wide band of hair loss around the site of caput succedaneum (CS), a condition caused by mechanical pressure during delivery. The infant's alopecia resolved completely by 20 months without treatment, highlighting the transient nature of HSR. The study emphasizes the importance of recognizing HSR in the differential diagnosis of newborn alopecia, as it usually resolves without intervention and does not require further investigation for central nervous system abnormalities.
