The authors apologized to Dr. Nazerani for not citing his work due to confusion between the terms "prefabrication" and "prelamination," which are distinct techniques in flap surgery. They clarified their use of "prelaminated osteomucosal fibula flap" and discussed their method of using small pieces of oral mucosa to prelaminate large bony surfaces, avoiding the need for extensive intraoral mucosa harvesting. This technique prevented issues like limited mouth opening and oral cavity morbidity. They noted that intraoral skin grafts face challenges such as "mucosalization," leading to texture mismatch and increased infection risk. Histological studies in pigs showed firm adhesion between periosteum and mucosal grafts, suggesting improved outcomes for osseointegrated dental implants using mucosal grafts.
