TLDR Transplanting small skin grafts can successfully repigment leukoderma.
The study described a method for repigmenting leukoderma by transplanting minigrafts of normally pigmented, autologous skin. These grafts retained their pigment and stimulated repigmentation around them through melanocyte migration and pigment spread. Three patients with different types of leukoderma (piebaldism, leukoderma from monobenzyl ether of hydroquinone, and depigmentation following a burn) experienced successful and cosmetically acceptable repigmentation using this method.
