TLDR Alitretinoin may help treat alopecia areata.
The document reported a case where a patient with chronic hand eczema (CHE) experienced complete remission of alopecia areata while being treated with alitretinoin. Alitretinoin, a dual RXR and RAR receptor agonist, was primarily approved for treating corticosteroid-refractory CHE. This case suggested that alitretinoin might have therapeutic benefits for other skin conditions, including alopecia areata.
