TLDR Alopecia areata can regrow hair in a pattern similar to androgenetic alopecia.
This document reports on a retrospective study of 1604 cases of alopecia areata (AA) over an 18-year period. The study identified 13 cases of a new pattern of hair regrowth in AA, which was termed androgenetic (AGA)-like pattern. The AGA-like pattern of regrowth may present with a typical AGA distribution both in males (MAGA) and in females (FAGA). The study suggests that this peculiar type of hair regrowth in the evolution of AA, AGA-like alopecia, must be considered in the future.
