TLDR Carlos Oscar Uebel developed a hair transplant method that looks natural, has low risk, and shows full growth in 6-12 months.
In May 2005, Carlos Oscar Uebel, M.D., detailed the punctiform technique in hair transplantation, a method he developed for creating natural-looking hair transplants with low complication risks. The technique involves a 2 to 3-hour procedure with three assistants, suitable for patients over 24 years old, and utilizes micrografts and minigrafts in megasessions. It includes designing the hairline, harvesting follicles, and implanting 1500 follicular units using the "stick-and-place" method with specific incision orientations. Post-operative care is minimal, and hair growth is expected to start after 3 months, with full results in 6 to 8 months for males and 10 to 12 months for females. Complications like retention cysts occur in 10% of patients. The technique is also used for androgenetic baldness in women, sideburn reconstruction, and improving temporal receding. Patients are advised on the progressive nature of baldness and the possibility of future procedures.
