Decoding Pumpkin Seeds for Hair Loss: A Computational Perspective

Kashif Abbas, Mudassir Alam, Tanjeem Raza, S Mohd. Hasan Abedi
TLDR Pumpkin seeds may help treat hair loss by blocking a key enzyme.
The study explores the potential of pumpkin seeds as a natural remedy for androgenetic alopecia (AGA) by focusing on the inhibition of the enzyme 5-alpha-reductase, which converts testosterone into dihydrotestosterone (DHT), a key factor in hair loss. Through virtual simulations and ADME/T analysis, the research evaluates the interactions between active compounds in pumpkin seeds and the 5-alpha-reductase enzyme. The findings aim to provide insights into the effectiveness of pumpkin seeds as a therapeutic option for AGA by examining protein-ligand interactions computationally.
