TLDR PRF may offer better healing and recovery than PRP for immediate implants.
The study compared the efficacy of platelet-rich plasma (PRP) and platelet-rich fibrin (PRF) in 20 adults undergoing immediate post-extraction implant placement and loading. Group 1 received PRP, while Group 2 received PRF. Results showed that Group 1 experienced less pain on the first postoperative day, but both groups had good soft tissue healing after 7 days. No significant difference was found in implant mobility between the groups. Group 2 demonstrated greater crestal bone height gain in the first 3 months, but by the 6th month, the difference was non-significant. The study concluded that PRF could offer enhanced healing and functional recovery over PRP in this context. Limitations included a small sample size and short follow-up period.
