TLDR No strong proof that platelet-rich plasma effectively treats hair loss.
The use of platelet-rich plasma (PRP) for the treatment of androgenetic alopecia (AGA) lacks evidence of clinically significant improvement. Multiple studies have shown a slight increase in hair growth, but the results were not statistically significant, and the studies were often limited by small sample sizes and lack of control groups. Therefore, further research is needed before PRP can be considered a viable treatment option for AGA. PRP is expensive, requires multiple treatments, and is not covered by insurance in most cases.
