A 3-year-old male German Shepherd was diagnosed with prostatic cystic hyperplasia, leading to an enlarged prostate and significant cysts, causing urethral obstruction and reactive lymph nodes. Cytology showed benign epithelial proliferation, and blood tests indicated thrombocytopenia and postrenal azotemia. Treatment involved antibiotics, finasteride, meloxicam, and sterilization. Post-surgery, the prostate volume reduced by 65% in 5 days and by 93.9% after 138 days, with no neoplastic process detected.
