TLDR Over half of the students had skin diseases, mainly foot issues and acne, with many unaware or untreated.
The study conducted a cross-sectional epidemiologic survey on 682 male adolescent and post-adolescent boarding school students in Turkey to document the prevalence of skin diseases. It found that 55.42% of the students had at least one skin disease, with tinea pedis (32.5%) and acne vulgaris (28.6%) being the most common. Androgenetic alopecia was present in 5.6% of the students. Notably, 65% of those with skin issues were unaware of their condition, and 45% of those aware had not sought medical help. The study concluded that skin diseases, particularly foot-related issues, were prevalent, and recommended medical education programs to improve awareness and treatment.
