This study, conducted between 2007 and 2010, retrospectively analyzed 234 young smokers with premature coronary artery disease (CAD) and 122 smokers without CAD to identify traditional risk factors. The findings indicated that young smokers with CAD had a significantly higher prevalence of hypertension, diabetes mellitus, metabolic syndrome, dyslipidemia, and central obesity compared to those without CAD. There was no significant difference in family history of CAD, arcus juvenilis, and baldness between the groups. The study concluded that young smokers with these conditions were at an increased risk for future acute CAD, suggesting the need for more rigorous follow-up and treatment.
