Postmenopausal Alopecia due to Ovarian Hyperandrogenemia Treated with Bilateral Salpingo-oophorectomy

A 65-year-old postmenopausal woman experienced male-pattern baldness due to ovarian hyperandrogenemia, confirmed by elevated testosterone levels of ovarian origin using a GnRH analog. Treatment with laparoscopic bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy successfully reduced her androgen levels and partially reversed her hair loss over a year. This case demonstrated the effectiveness of using GnRH analogs for diagnosis and surgical removal of the ovaries in managing alopecia caused by ovarian hyperandrogenism.
