TLDR Man experienced post-finasteride syndrome symptoms after using finasteride and dutasteride for hair loss.
A 25-year-old man with androgenetic alopecia developed symptoms of post-finasteride syndrome, including delusional disorder, erectile dysfunction, testicular pain, sensation of cold in the penis, diminished volume of ejaculation, and loss of libido, after 8 months of treatment with finasteride and dutasteride. The symptoms appeared 4 months after discontinuing the drugs and the serum dihydrotestosterone level was reduced but later normalized. The authors report this case as an example of post-finasteride syndrome in their 20-year prescription practice of 5-alpha-reductase inhibitors.

community Why is everyone not directly advised Dutasteride?

      in Finasteride/Dutasteride  169 upvotes 4 months ago
Dutasteride is less commonly prescribed for hair loss because it is not FDA-approved for this purpose, unlike finasteride, which is more accessible and preferred due to fewer side effects. Dutasteride may be more effective in reducing DHT but has a longer half-life and potentially more significant side effects.
