This study developed an acellular ovine tendon collagen type I (OTC-I) bioscaffold with an antibacterial coating for immediate skin wound treatment and infection prevention. Two crosslinkers, genipin (GNP) and dehydrothermal treatment (DHT), were compared, with GNP showing superior physicochemical and mechanical properties, swelling, biodegradation, microstructure, and biocompatibility. The GNP crosslinked scaffold with plasma-polymerised carvone (GNPppCar) demonstrated enhanced antibacterial properties and supported human skin cell proliferation and viability, making it a promising biomaterial for rapid wound healing.
