TLDR Aftimoon (Cuscuta reflexa) has various health benefits, including anti-inflammatory and anticonvulsant effects.
The document from July 2019 investigated the phytochemical and pharmacological properties of Aftimoon (Cuscuta reflexa), a parasitic plant found in India. The plant, used in various Unani compound formulations, has been traditionally used to treat neurological disorders like melancholia, schizophrenia, epilepsy, as well as other disorders like hepatitis, palpitation, and skin disorders. Phytochemical studies identified important chemicals in the plant, including cuscutin, cuscutalin, bergenin, kaempferol, amarbelin, and sterol glycosides. Pharmacological studies reported diverse benefits of Aftimoon, such as anti-inflammatory, cytotoxic, antipyretic, hepatoprotective, and anticonvulsant activities.
