TLDR Men with hair loss may have more body fat and different blood characteristics.
This cross-sectional study conducted in Baghdad, Iraq, involved 100 male participants, half with hair loss and half without, aged 20–40 years. The study found that men with hair loss had significantly higher body fat mass and haematocrit levels, and lower blood pressure compared to those without hair loss. These findings suggest potential links between metabolic and hematologic changes and hair loss, indicating that obesity and altered blood characteristics may be associated with baldness. The basal metabolic rate did not differ significantly between the groups.
