TLDR Sunlight exposure increases drug toxicity; amber glass best for protection.
This study evaluated the photostability and toxicity of three drugs, finasteride, diclofenac, and naproxen, under simulated sunlight exposure. The drugs were photodegraded and their toxicity increased after exposure to sunlight. The study also evaluated the effectiveness of different packaging materials in protecting the drugs from sunlight exposure and found that amber glass was the most effective. The findings suggest that the photodegradation of these drugs in the environment may increase their toxicity and that proper packaging can help mitigate this effect.
