TLDR Photobiomodulation therapy reduces pain and stress after septoplasty.
The study assessed the effectiveness of photobiomodulation therapy (PBMT) in reducing acute pain after septoplasty. It involved 62 patients divided into two groups: one received standard postoperative care, and the other received additional PBMT. Results showed that the PBMT group had significantly lower heart rate variability, indicating reduced autonomic nervous system tension, and experienced less pain between 6 to 24 hours post-surgery compared to the standard care group. This suggested that PBMT improved pain management and autonomic response in the early postoperative period after septoplasty.
