    Myrtus communis Linn., known as Common Myrtle, is a significant plant in Unani Medicine, used since Ancient Greece. Its berries, leaves, and essential oil treat conditions like asthma, rheumatism, haemorrhages, deep sinusitis, leucorrhoea, and hair loss. The plant is rich in biologically active substances such as tannins, flavonoids, coumarins, essential oil, fixed oil, fibres, carbohydrates, citric acid, malic acid, and antioxidants. This paper provides a detailed analysis of its chemical composition, pharmacological activities, and traditional medical uses.
