TLDR GRF is not safe for tubal occlusion.
The study investigated the effects of various tissue adhesives on peritoneal reactions in Swiss mice and Holtzman rats. It was found that only the gelatin-resorcinol-formaldehyde (GRF) caused peritoneal lesions and hair loss at the injection site. These lesions were more extensive in mice than in rats, healing completely in rats by 9 weeks and in mice by 12 weeks. The study concluded that GRF is unsuitable for tubal occlusion and highlighted the importance of testing occlusive agents in at least two species before considering their use in humans.
