TLDR Natural lips are perceived as more attractive, successful, and healthy than augmented lips.
The study investigated societal perceptions of attractiveness, success, and overall health in women following upper lip augmentation using simulated photography. A total of 217 observers, predominantly female and white, rated images of 15 patients' lower faces in three conditions: natural, simulated upper lip filler, and simulated upper lip lift. Results indicated that the natural condition received the highest scores across all categories, followed by the simulated upper lip filler, and lastly, the simulated upper lip lift. The study concluded that simulated upper lip augmentation could be effectively analyzed for social perception, with strong correlations in observer ratings for attractiveness, success, and health.
